Our Philosophy

Play is a form of Exploration, Communication, and Expression.

At Cottonwoods, we believe that play is fundamental to every child’s physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development.

Through play, children learn essential life skills such as turn-taking, problem-solving, making decisions, planning, and embracing mistakes as part of the learning process. It allows them to explore, create, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

We recognize the importance of fostering a strong sense of self-esteem in every child. To support this, we offer a safe and nurturing environment with clear, reasonable boundaries and developmentally appropriate activities. Our goal is to create opportunities for each child to succeed, feel confident, and learn to accept and appreciate themselves and others.

Our Goals

At Cottonwoods, our goal is to provide a wide range of age-appropriate experiences that support your child’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development.

To support physical development, we offer opportunities for children to explore and build their physical skills in ways that foster confidence and competence. We aim to help each child develop a positive sense of their physical abilities—both in relation to their personal goals and among their peers.

To nurture emotional development, we encourage children to recognize, express, and manage a full range of emotions—both positive and challenging. As they grow, we guide them in developing insight into the feelings of others, helping to foster empathy and emotional resilience.

To support intellectual growth, we provide rich opportunities to expand vocabulary, make meaningful connections, and practice logical thinking. These foundational experiences help prepare your child for future academic learning and lifelong curiosity.

To promote social development, children engage in play and group experiences with both peers and educators. Through these interactions, they learn cooperation, respect, and how to navigate relationships in a positive, meaningful way.

By developing these core skills, we aim to build your child’s self-esteem and help prepare them for a confident, well-rounded path forward in life.
